This is the prototype page for my fish catching Balatro-like.

The game is not complete. All art/music/gameplay is subject to change, especially the font.

Please consider this while trying the prototype, and thank you.

  1. How To Play:
    • Goal: Reach the target score for the round before your moves run out.
    • Basic action: Hold the left mouse button and draw a closed loop around fish to capture them. Finish the loop to submit the catch.
    • Gun Mode!: Right click to toggle gun mode. While gun mode is on, left click fires a shot that can scare nearby fish. Shots are limited.
      • Also, look at for the Stanky fish. Shooting him will grant you 50 points.
    • Resources: You have a limited number of moves and a limited number of shots. Remaining moves and shots convert to money after a round.
    • Scoring: Captures score by grouping fish into hands like pair, two pair, three of a kind, full house, four unique, four of a kind, and five of a kind. Special fish(the sword fish) award set points. Larger sets earn higher rewards.
      • Catches must be exact. You may include up to one extra fish and still score. If more than one extra fish is present, the catch is a 'Bad Catch' and scores 0 points.
        • You can click the Submarine button to view the current base scoring rules.
    • Shop and upgrades: After winning a round you can spend money on upgrades and abilities that change spawn behavior and scoring for future rounds. There are 3 distinct types:
      • Passive Modifiers (Catch Upgrades): Permanent upgrades you keep in your inventory that change base score multipliers and chips for specific catch types. They apply immediately when bought and persist to affect future catches.
        • Hand / Scoring Upgrades (Clownfish Cards): Targeted upgrades that change how a specific hand scores, for example adding chips or a multiplier to Pair, Full House, or other hands. Some upgrades apply to fish by color so you can boost scoring for a particular color group.
        • Starfish Abilities: Unique ability purchases that effect things like cursor effects, total moves, and fish spawn rates. They also look freaky.
    • Round flow: Play until you reach the target score to win the round. If moves run out before the target is reached you lose the round.
    • Play tips: Aim to encircle matching fish types to form higher scoring sets. Save shots for crowd control or urgent interruptions. Buy upgrades that fit your play style early to compound benefits.
    • Have fun!

ALSO.

There is no art for upgrade cards right now. You can still hover over it to see what it is tho.
